ALL ENGLAND DANCE AUGUST 2011Three weeks after returning from Paris, many of Glendale's talented dancers headed up to London for the Grand Finals of the All England where again numerous successes were had. Special mention should go to: Millie Hood won Gold for her Tap solo, Ellie Smyth and Mille Hood won Gold for their Classical duet and there were a number of Silvers including Stampede, Marelle, Chrissie Bhima and Oliver Charman Modern Duet, Chrissie Bhima and Dani Hardy (who stepped in to take Olis place) S & D duet, Chrissie Bhima S & D solo.DANCE WORLD CUP JULY 2011Glendale Theatre Arts School were recently selected to represent England at the Dance World Cup championships. 90% of the England team were selected from Glendale's dancers. The competition is held annually in different cities all over the world and this year it was held in Paris. The event is the dance worlds equivalent of the football World Cup and competitors came from all over the globe, with familiar sporting giants like Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia, Italy, Russia all sending their best dancers.Glendale more than rose to the occasion and put in a fantastic performance and came back with 19 GOLD medals plus 10 silver and 5 bronzes !! The majority of England's medals were won by students from Glendale Theatre Arts School and in addition, Glendale also scooped numerous standalone awards at the final award ceremony, including;Best song and dance solo at World CupBest Modern group at World Cup Best Song and dance group at World CupMost promising junior at World Cup...and the icing on the cake... the judges had to select the best entry in all categories, in any age group for the entire World Cup and Glendale won this for England with their Senior Modern Group which we have also now been informed, obtained the highest mark EVER awarded at any Dance World Cup of 99.67 (that is just 0.33 off of absolute perfection from the panel of judges)!!!

The European Ballet: Coppelia

It was a great experience to be part of and we were very lucky as a school to be chosen. All the dancers loved every minute of it, from the rehearsals to the performance. Everyone involved danced beautifully to a very high standard and you wouldn't have known that they were not part of the European Ballet also.

Although the younger girls were given the opportunity to dance, unfortunately the seniors could have had more involvement as they were only used purely for decoration.

Nevertheless, everyone who participated acted very professionally backstage and found the whole experience, watching the stars, a true inspiration! Well done.

Stars of Strictly

Stars of BBC TV's 'Strictly Come Dancing' Katya Virshilas & Pasha Kovalev take to the stage for an evening of exhibition dance routines, featuring the Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Jive and many more.

Joining Katya & Pasha will be two rising stars in the world of dance. The show will also feature up to 40 young dancers from a popular local dance school. To our excitement, many of our seniors will be learning 2 dances, to perform within the show amongst the professionals!

In addition, there will also be the chance for you to put your questions to Katya & Pasha and find out what really goes on behind the scenes of the hit BBC TV show!

For five lucky members of the audience, there will be the opportunity to join the cast on stage in their very own Strictly Dance competition.

Together with exhilarating routines, audience participation, Katya & Pasha in conversation & video highlights, this promises to be a night of world class dance to remember.
